2 health care clinics, imaging center opening in Bluffton. Here’s where, what services to expect

Novant Health announced the opening of two new clinics and an imaging center in Bluffton, new additions to the growing medical hub on Buckwalter Parkway.

The North Carolina-based health care company already operates dozens of facilities in Beaufort County. Hilton Head Medical Center and Coastal Carolina Medical Center both joined the Novant Health system in 2024. The new facilities are part of Novant Health’s Lowcountry expansion.

The new facilities are at 400 Buckwalter Place, within the Buckwalter Place development. They will comprise Novant Health Buckwalter Medical Park, which the health provider has planned since spring 2025.

The new clinics specialize in primary care and orthopedics. The imaging center will have X-ray, MRI, and other medical equipment for patients.

Novant Health Public Relations Manager Carter Mello said the health provider wanted to open the primary care clinic due to a lack of primary care facilities in the Bluffton area. The imaging center allows patients of the orthopedic clinic to receive imaging care without having to leave the park.

Novant Health will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new facilities next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The primary care clinic is now open for patients. The orthopedic clinic will open May 26, and the imaging center on July 7.

Novant Health broke ground on two large medical facilities–Novant Health Bluffton Emergency Department and Novant Health Bluffton Health Place–on Buckwalter Parkway last spring. The facilities are planned to open in 2026.

But a competitor is building a hospital in the same area.

According to previous Island Packet reporting, Beaufort Memorial Hospital invested $100 million into Beaufort Memorial Bluffton Community Hospital, on the corner of Bluffton Parkway and Buckwalter Parkway. The hospital will be a short drive away from Novant Health’s facilities.

Novant Health and Beaufort Memorial cite growing demand for medical care for their expansions. Both health providers have begun construction on or completed new medical facilities in Bluffton and Hilton Head.

Once their projects are completed, Buckwalter Parkway will be home to four medical and two dental facilities.
