Land has been cleared next to Food Lion in Bluffton. What’s being built?

A new extended-stay hotel is coming to Okatie Center Boulevard in Bluffton, the newest hotel along the busy and growing U.S. 278 corridor.

A Beaufort County stormwater permit was issued March 10 for a new Home2Suites hotel at 100 Okatie Center Boulevard South on a lot of about five acres. Hannah Nichols, spokesperson for Beaufort County, said the project has its development and stormwater permits but has yet to be issued a building permit.

“The hotel is currently in the building plan review stage,” Nichols said.

The new hotel will be next to the existing Hampton Inn & Suites Bluffton-Sun City and close to the Best Western Plus Bluffton/Hilton Head near U.S. 278’s intersection with SC 170.

Home2 Suites is a Hilton extended-stay hotel brand, meaning they’re designed for guests staying for a longer period of time. Hotels are pet-friendly and rooms have full kitchens.

Hilton has a handful of Beaufort County hotels, but the closest Home2 Suites hotels to Bluffton are on Hilton Head Island and in Savannah, Georgia.
