Snow chances grow for Hilton Head. Here’s when, how much of the white stuff to expect
Snow chances have increased for Beaufort County this weekend, with the National Weather Service now estimating an 89% probability of snow falling on Saturday.
Confidence continues to grow that an accumulating snowfall event will impact the region from Saturday morning into the night, driven by unseasonably cold air and a reinforcing Arctic high pressure system expected to settle over the area late Friday and persist through Monday.
While some uncertainty remains about the exact timing and amounts, meteorologists say precipitation will likely begin as a rain and snow mix before transitioning to all snow as temperatures fall. A rain and sleet mix is not expected.
Snow is expected to begin around 9 a.m. Saturday, with Beaufort County most likely seeing snowfall between noon and 7 p.m.
