Man arrested after stabbing near Hilton Head shopping center, police say

A man was arrested for an alleged stabbing that was prompted by a traffic dispute near a Hilton Head Island shopping center Sunday evening, according to police.

Sean Brandon Elliott, 39, of Hilton Head, was charged Sunday with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, inmate records show.

It happened after the victim, a 62-year-old man, turned onto Shelter Cove Lane from a parking lot around 7:30 p.m. Sunday and felt something hit the side of his car, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

An argument began between the victim and Elliott after the two exited their cars. The dispute became physical and Elliott allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times with a pocketknife, BCSO spokesperson Lt. Daniel Allen said.
