Odd Birds, a women-owned breakfast café and bakery in Bluffton, is shutting its doors this week.

Announced in a Facebook post on Nov. 20, the flagship café will officially close on Nov. 26 after five years in business.

The café, which opened in fall 2020, quickly became known for its crêpes, pastries, paninis, salads, beverages and a rotating selection of goodies made from scratch.

Back in June, Odd Birds also closed their Wexford “Bakes” location on Hilton Head due to operational challenges.

True to its name, Odd Birds built a following by pairing sweet and savory ingredients and creating new flavor combinations. Some of their latest combinations included cranberry almond tarts, pistachio apricot scones and cranberry orange scones. Odd Birds also offered gluten-free items.

Located in The Bridge Center at 1536 Fording Island Road, Suite 107 — near Kenny B’s, across from Moss Creek and just before the bridge to Hilton Head Island — the shop served as a convenient stop for locals, commuters and breakfast lovers alike.

A reason for the closure and next steps for the business remain unclear, but this story will be updated when we learn more.

Folks will be able to visit Odd Birds until 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 26.
