Voters have picked the best place for breakfast on Hilton Head. See if you agree
Grabbing a bagel during your morning rush to work, or just seeking a casual spot for coffee and an omelet? No matter how you prefer to start your morning, breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day.
Ranging from cafes, breakfast diners and go-to brunch spots, the island offers a handful of locations offering pancakes, pastries, breakfast burritos, and more.
Last week, we shared a poll asking readers to vote for their favorite breakfast spot on Hilton Head.
To find the reader-favorite spot for morning fuel, we compiled a list of 20 local breakfast joints and smaller chains on the island with Google ratings of 4 stars or higher, leaving out larger chain locations like Starbucks.
During this polling, 354 participants shared their top pick, and now, a reader-favorite location has been determined.
From biscuits, breakfast bowls, to chicken and waffles, here are the top three spots for a morning pick-me-up, according to our readers:
- No. 1: Palmetto Bay Sunrise Cafe with 73 votes
- No. 2: Plantation Cafe & Deli with 49 votes
- No. 3: Watusi Cafe with 37 votes
While our list included a wide range of breakfast locations across the island, these three eateries took the top spots from readers, with Palmetto Bay Sunrise Cafe taking the ranks as No. 1.
Palmetto Bay Sunrise Cafe is a fan favorite dining location that has been serving breakfast and lunch items for more than 20 years. It is known for menu items like omelets, Eggs Benedict, French toast, and their daily specials.
Palmetto Bay Sunrise Cafe has a 4.7 out of 5-star rating on Google reviews and is located at 86 Helmsman Way in the Palmetto Bay Marina. It is open Wednesday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Another top spot was Plantation Cafe & Deli, which has been in business since 1974 and now boasts three locations serving breakfast and lunch items.
Lastly, neighborhood cafe and coffee bar, Watusi Cafe, made the ranks, coming in at No. 3 with its relaxing atmosphere and proximity to the Coligny Beach area.
Remember: This poll wasn’t scientific or an exhaustive list of every location in Hilton Head serving breakfast — it was just for fun!
