Here are some of the best festivals, events in Hilton Head, Bluffton, Beaufort this September
With the peak summer months behind us, the Lowcountry has begun to wind down, but that doesn’t mean the calendar is slowing just yet.
Even though September often marks the end of summer, from Hilton Head to Beaufort, events and festivities are still in full swing.
From 9/11 remembrance ceremonies to fall events, shrimp festivals and outdoor fun, here’s a roundup of events happening across Beaufort County this month.
First Friday Beaufort
Enjoy classic cars, games, activities, and live music during the First Friday of September tailgate party and festival in downtown Beaufort. This event is free and open to the public.

Lowcountry Paddle Fest
Spend a day out on the water with this family-friendly paddle racing competition. Visitors can watch racers compete, and the little ones can participate in paddle races of their own. This event also includes games, bounce houses and other outdoor activities. Registration is required for racers.

Roots and Rivers Festival
Visit Oyster Factory Park to find local artisans, live music, food, and more. The Roots and Rivers Festival showcases the talents and products of Black-owned businesses in the area. Tickets are $15.

Patriot Day Ceremony
Remember the lives lost and honor the heroes of 9/11 during the Patriot Day Ceremony in Beaufort. Local restaurants will also be hosting discounts for first responders. This event is free and open to the public.

Music and Taste on the Harbour at Shelter Cove
This recurring outdoor concert series will feature a variety of bands, food and dancing on Thursday nights in Sept. The event is free and open to the public.

Harbour Town Fall Fest
Harbour Town Fall Fest will feature a variety of activities, including a sidewalk sale, live music, boat rides, water sports, and more. The Carolina Dreamers Car Club will also have a selection of classic cars on display. This event is located in the Sea Pines Resort, meaning gate fees apply.

Hilton Head Island Jam
The Hilton Head Island Jam, a songwriter festival that’s designed to bring the Nashville spirit to South Carolina, is back for its 3rd year. This festival is four days long and will include live music and feature a handful of local venues. Most concert events are free, but certain festivities, like the Golf Bash, do require registration and purchases.

Hilton Head Island Shrimp Festival
If you’re on the hunt for Lowcountry seafood, visit the 7th annual Hilton Head Island Shrimp Festival. Located in Sea Pines, this event is family-friendly and features shrimp dishes prepared by over 15 Hilton Head-area chefs, craft brews, vendors, and more. Tickets are required for this event.

Blufftemberfest
The Lowcountry’s take on Oktoberfest, BlufftemberFest, a Bluffton tradition since 2012, will be taking place at Oyster Factory Park at the end of the month. Featuring a beer garden, food trucks, crafts, and live music, this event is set overlooking the May River. Scheduled for rain or shine, tickets are required for this event.
