With the 2025-2026 school year in full swing, the South Carolina College and Career-Ready Assessments scores have officially been released, highlighting where students across the Palmetto State score in core learning subjects.

Released on Sept. 2, the South Carolina College and Career Ready Assessments (SC READY) is a statewide assessment program that is administered to students in third through eighth grades to measure their progress against state standards, as required by the Education Accountability Act.

The 2024-2025 scores assess English language arts (ELA), math and science across all school districts in the state.

Here is a breakdown of the percentage of students in third through eighth grades who meet or exceed expectations in English language arts, math and science in Beaufort and Jasper County school districts.

Beaufort County School District scores

2025 ELA SC READY results for BCSD

SC READY test results showed the percentage of students in Beaufort County schools who meet or exceed expectations in English language arts increased from 2024 in all grades except sixth.

In 2024, 55.1% of sixth-grade students met or exceeded expectations, but that total dropped to 54.9% this year.

Fourth-grade students improved their percentage from 56.4% in 2024 to 63.3%, almost seven points.

2025 Math SC READY results for BCSD

In math assessments, percentages rose for all but two grade levels: sixth and seventh, where scores dropped 1.8 and 0.9 percentage points from 2024 scores.

Fourth and fifth graders saw the biggest increase in percentage points for meeting or exceeding expectations in math.

Fourth-grade student scores rose to 54.3% from 49.5%, while fifth-grade student scores rose to 52.1% from 46.8% in 2024.

2025 Science SC READY results for BCSD

SC READY science testing was administered only to fourth and sixth-graders in South Carolina this year. Previous scores from 2023 show that BCSD students’ percentiles have risen by 4.2 percentage points in fourth, and 3.1 percentage points in sixth.

Jasper County School District scores

2025 ELA SC READY results for JCSD

SC READY results for Jasper County show that all grade levels except sixth and seventh increased their percentages of students who meet or exceed expectations in ELA.

Sixth and seventh grade percentages dropped by slight margins, with sixth grade dipping to 28.4% in 2025 from 28.8% in 2024 and seventh dropping to 34.1% this year from 34.6% in 2024.

Eighth grade saw the largest increase, jumping from 30.3% in 2024 to now 39.8%.

In math, only third, sixth and eighth graders saw a decrease in percentage scores.

Math score percentage for third grade dropped from 24.1% in 2024 to 23.6% in 2025. Sixth grade saw a decrease from 14.6% to 13.5% and eighth grade lowered from 11.7% in 2024 to 10.2% in 2025.

Fifth graders in Jasper County had one of the most notable percentage increases in students who meet or exceed expectations, jumping from 26.7% in 2024 to 33.3% today.

2025 Science SC READY results for JCSD

SC READY science testing was administered only to fourth and sixth-graders in South Carolina this year. Scores from 2023 show that JCSD students’ percentiles have risen by seven percentage points in fourth grade and by 0.6 percentage points in sixth grade.
