The average price of gas in South Carolina has been on the rise this week, with prices climbing from $2.75 to almost $2.80 per gallon for regular fuel, according to the state Gas Price Chart from GasBuddy.

While GasBuddy states that the national average price of gasoline has fallen almost $0.03 per gallon over the last week, South Carolina’s prices have slowly been on the rise, with Beaufort and Jasper Counties boasting some of the highest gas prices across the state.

Here’s how prices have risen in the Lowcountry and how they compare to other regions in the Palmetto State.

What are the current gas prices in the Lowcountry?

Data from the American Automobile Association shows that Beaufort and Jasper Counties are holding some of the highest gas prices in the state this week. As of Wednesday, Aug. 13, the average price for a gallon of regular fuel for each county is:

  • Jasper County: $2.91
  • Beaufort County: $2.94

This sets Lowcountry gas prices roughly $0.10 higher than the current state average of $2.80, according to the AAA.

Some of the most expensive spots for a gallon of regular gas, according to GasBuddy, across areas of the Lowcountry include:

  • $3.07 per gallon at Shell on 4 Palmetto Bay Road, Hilton Head Island
  • $2.99 per gallon at Shell on 34 Plantation Park Drive, Bluffton
  • $2.99 per gallon at Enmarket on 2265 Boundary Street, Beaufort
  • $2.99 per gallon at Parkers on 1715 Ribaut Road, Port Royal
  • $2.99 per gallon at Parkers on 6 Barrel Landing Road, Okatie
  • $2.99 per gallon at Circle K on 574 Independence Boulevard, Hardeeville

According to the AAA, these are the median gas prices for a gallon of regular fuel in other regions of South Carolina as of Aug. 13:

  • Horry County & the Myrtle Beach area: $2.78
  • Richland County & the Columbia area: $2.86
  • York County & the Rock Hill area: $2.80
  • Greenville County & the Greenville area: $2.79
