A new name and flavor is heating up Hilton Head’s Coligny Plaza this summer.

Slowcountry BBQ & Grill officially opened its doors this week in the space formerly home to Forrest Fire BBQ, located at 1 North Forest Beach Drive next to FISH Casual Coastal Seafood in Coligny Plaza.

This new dining location is promising a refreshed take on Southern comfort food with a casual, family-friendly atmosphere.

While the ownership remains the same, management has changed and the restaurant is shifting in a new culinary direction to offer a more immersive and relaxed dining experience than the former “grab and go” style.

What’s on the menu?

Slowcountry isn’t just about barbecue, though the menu still features slow-smoked classics like brisket and pulled pork.

The expanded offerings include hand-pattied burgers, fried chicken, sandwiches and a wide variety of Southern-style sides, with new menu items like the Brisket Sloppy Joe or Chicken Sandwich geared toward traditional BBQ lovers and casual diners alike.

For those who remember the tray-and-slide cafeteria-style setup of Forrest Fire, that format is changing and instead, guests will now order at the register and have their meals delivered to their table.

Other menu items include:

  • Pulled pork platter

  • Ribs

  • Single, double or triple burgers

  • Kid’s menu

  • Appetizers

  • To-go meals

Slowcountry BBQ & Grill is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

They also offer a daily Happy Hour from 4 to 6 p.m.
