Hilton Head has no shortage of places to shop for beach-themed knick-knacks, funny t-shirts and endless stickers and magnets. With the summer months upon us and beachgoers frequenting the island, souvenir shopping is almost always a must at the end of a beach vacation.
Coligny Beach, one of the most popular areas on the island, boasts a handful of shops to visit, all carrying a variety of summer memorabilia to commemorate your trip.
Each store varies — some more than others — but with so many options to choose from, how similar are their prices?
To find out, we visited five souvenir shops in the Coligny Beach area and price-checked similar products for four popular beach souvenirs and essentials.
What stores did we visit?
We visited five stores in the Coligny area on Thursday, May 29, between 10 a.m. and noon.
Those stores included:
Camp Hilton Head: 1 N Forest Beach Drive, Unit L-1
Surf’s Up: 8 N Forest Beach Drive
Hilton Head Beach Company in Beach Market: 2 N Forest Beach Drive
Island Time in Beach Market: 2 N Forest Beach Drive
Beach and Surf Depot: 77 Pope Avenue
What items did we compare?
The items we compared were shirts, hats, magnets and souvenir cups or tumblers.
We made sure each item was comparable in price and design, depending on what was in stock at each store.
Shirt: Unisex, size large
Hat: Cheapest option at each location
Magnet: Median magnet price per store (most stores priced all magnets the same)
Cup: Cheapest option at each location
