Beaufort County Animal Services drops pet spaying cost down to $20. Here are the details
Beaufort County Animal Services is offering spay treatments for female cats and dogs for only $20 from now until April 1, 2025.
This discounted price comes with the new campaign, “Beat the Heat” to remind residents to keep their animal’s health in check.
Beaufort County Animal Services spaying normally costs $65 for cats and $85 for dogs.
Why do I need to spay my pet?
According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, by having your pet spayed, you help set your pet up for a longer life. On average, spayed cats and dogs live longer due to the health and behavioral benefits of the procedures.
Spaying female dogs and cats helps to improve the overall health of your pet and prevents these common sicknesses and concerns:
Uterine infections
Breast cancer
No heat cycles, which reduces mating-related behaviors
Less desire to roam
Reduces the risk of mammary gland tumors, ovarian and/or uterine cancer
Reduces the number of unwanted cats/kittens/dogs/puppies.
Beaufort County Animal Services states that dogs that aren’t spayed can have one or two litters per year, with anywhere between one to 12 puppies in each litter.
For unspayed cats, they can have up to five litters per season with up to three to eight kittens per litter.
Spay treatments are important for maintaining the pet population, preventing unplanned or unwanted litters and avoiding animal euthanasia.
