Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. If you’re still in a pinch trying to figure out the best way to celebrate but want to wow your date with something more than a fancy dinner, the Lowcountry is the perfect place to find unique and fun things to do.

From picnics, cocktail classes and even ballroom dancing, we have your guide to unique Valentines ideas to try this year.

Picnics

For something more intimate and relaxing, a picnic is always the way to go.

The Lowcountry offers a variety of spots to sit back, relax and enjoy some time together with your loved one. From waterfront views, to lighthouses and vast green spaces, here are a few location ideas that will certainly elevate these dinner plans.

Even more, you and your date can pick out your dining spread at one of the local farmer’s markets.

Cocktail Classes

Mix things up this year and celebrate Valentine’s Day by making your own drinks. The Lowcountry offers two great locations for these classes.

Hilton Head Distillery, 14 Cardinal Road, Hilton Head

Their Valentine’s event, Love on the Rocks, is happening on Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $95 and include three cocktails, a cocktail-making class, tasting, pairing and more.

Shaken and Stirred

Art Classes

Get creative this year with an art class with Wine and Design,1536 Fording Island Road, Suite 102, Hilton Head.

You can sign up for their special Valentine’s event, Paint Your Partner, on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 6:30 p.m. This fun and interactivity is the perfect way to blend quality time and show off your artistic talents. Tickets for this class are $70.

Wine and Design also offers other Valentine’s-themed art classes including Heart Collage on Feb. 8, Wine and Roses on Feb. 11 and Love is Blooming on Feb. 15.

Dancing

In the mood to move? Visit the Hilton Head Ballroom Dance Studio on Feb. 11 from 7-9 p.m. for their Valentines Dance Party. This will be an evening full of fun festivities, dancing and romance.

This event is free and open to the public. The Hilton Head Ballroom Dance studio is located at, 1300 Fording Island Road, Bluffton.

Horse Back Riding

If you and your date are feeling super adventurous, Hilton Head horseback riding is certainly worth a try.

Lawton Stables is one of the many places that make the island feel like a slice of paradise. No matter if it’s your first time riding or you’re super experienced, the views and natural landscape will make this date idea memorable.

Old Bull Tavern, 205 West Street, Beaufort

Old Bull Tavern is a gastropub that offers an enticing menu that includes both European and American food, cocktails, craft beers, wine and more. Some of their entree items include duck breast, cottage pie and lamb.

For the perfect mix of drinks and good food, Old Bull Tavern may be the perfect spot for your date this year.

They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 5-9 p.m. The bar is open until 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Cool Cats Lounge, 32 Palmetto Bay Road, Suite 8-A, Hilton Head

This dive bar, located right on Hilton Head Island, is great for a late-night Valentine’s adventure. With great drinks and food options, this is the perfect spot to visit if you’re looking for something casual to celebrate the evening.

Cool Cats Lounge is open daily from 3 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
