Another of Hilton Head’s public beaches is getting revamped in the winter down season.

The town will begin construction on a new boardwalk at Driessen Beach Park on Monday, Nov. 20, according to a press release. From that date until approximately March 1, 2024, Driessen will be closed to the public.

The $300,000 project will completely replace about 1,100 feet of existing boardwalk at Driessen Beach Park, according to the town’s project dashboard.

Construction at Driessen Beach is part of a larger town capital improvement project looking to overhaul several public beaches. The replacement of Folly Field Beach Park’s 400 foot boardwalk began in September and is expected to finish on Nov. 17, according to a previous town news release. That project was budgeted for $100,000.

During Driessen Beach Park’s temporary closure, other public access beaches like Fish Haul Beach, Islanders Beach Park, and Coligny Beach will remain open.
