Hilton Head’s pickleballers now have more courts to choose from, as demand for places to play continues to surge.

In September, the town announced it would renovate existing tennis courts at Old Schoolhouse Park to become dedicated pickleball courts. After 42 days and $250,000, the town announced six new pickleball courts are now ready for play.

The park renovations included resurfaced courts, newly installed nets, and a water bottle filling stations for players. There’s also new walkways around the courts, internal and external fencing to separate individual courts and the larger playing area, and a gallery for spectators to watch matches.

The courts are open every day from dawn to dusk. Those who aren’t members of the Hilton Head Pickleball Club can play from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., otherwise, non-members require an invite from a club member, according to the court rules.
