The bridge over Battery Creek, on the Spanish Moss Trail, will be closed on and off for four months starting July 26.

The pedestrian bridge on the Spanish Moss Trail, over Battery Creek near the Technical College of the Lowcountry, will be closed intermittently between now and late November or early December.

Work on the bridge, located between the street crossings at Hermitage Road and Cottage Farm Drive, will start on Wednesday, July 26, and is expected to take four months to complete. Weather and supplies may affect the completion time, Beaufort County said in a press release.

While the work will focus on the substructure under the bridge, construction traffic and materials are likely to block use of the bridge, according to the press release.

During the bridge closings, those walking the trail will need to turn around and go back the way they came. The Spanish Moss Trail website will be updated when closures are planned.
