TV news reporter Andrew Davis leaving WSAV. What he’ll be doing instead
After 10 years as a reporter in the Lowcountry and coastal Georgia, WSAV’s Andrew Davis is leaving the station.
Davis will become the director of marketing and communications for the Town of Hilton Head Island, according to a Friday news release.
WSAV hired Davis in June of 2009, and he’s since held various roles as an anchor, reporter and, most recently, investigative reporter for the Savannah-based broadcast news outlet. Prior to his time with WSAV, Davis worked with another Savannah station, WTOC.
The new post will be Davis’ first foray into public relations after a 29-year career as a reporter, the town news release said.
Town spokeswoman Carolyn Grant said the director-level position is a newly created post approved as part of the recent fiscal year 2024 town budget. That budget included funding for several new positions, including a marketing and community engagement director. The town first advertised the position last month with a salary of up to $140,000.
