A 53-year-old man died on S.C. 321 in Jasper County after his Pontiac veered off the roadway Friday afternoon, according to authorities.

S.C. Highway Patrol, the agency investigating the crash, reported a 2005 Pontiac was traveling south on S.C. 321 when the driver, Larry Bobean, ran off the road to the right as he exited the highway.

Bobean overcorrected, and traveled down an embankment. The car overturned in a marsh, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brian T. Lee around 1 p.m. Friday. Bobean was wearing a seatbelt.

Bobean, of Yemassee, was taken to Carolina Coastal Hospital where he died due to crash-related injuries, Jasper County Coroner Willie P. Aiken III said Saturday morning.
