With Christmas over, where can you dispose of your holiday tree in Beaufort Co.?
The gifts are unwrapped, the eggnog is gone and your relatives are headed home. Now, what are you going to do about your Christmas tree?
If it’s a live tree, it’s recyclable. For Beaufort County residents with convenience center decals, you can drop off your tree at any center during normal business hours, between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
All convenience centers are closed on Wednesdays and will be closed on New Year’s Day.
If you don’t have a decal, you can still drop off your tree, but only at the locations at 104 Simmonsville Road in Bluffton or 80 Shanklin Road in Beaufort.
Make sure to take ornaments and decorations off the tree before bringing it to the center. If you’re bringing other recyclables, be sure to flatten cardboard and store grease in lidded or sealed containers. Bubble wrap and air pillows can be recycled in the Plastic Bag & Film Collection bins at the Bluffton, Hilton Head, Shanklin and St. Helena convenience centers.
Marla Prince, a spokesperson for Waste Management, encouraged her company’s customers to use the county convenience centers to recycle their trees.
