Bluffton parks have reopened to the public. Playgrounds still closed due to COVID-19
All public parks in Bluffton have reopened, though not town playgrounds.
Two months after town manager Marc Orlando shuttered all public parks in Bluffton due to the coronavirus pandemic, the town has now reopened the parks to the public, according to a Monday news release. Playgrounds and playground equipment will remain closed.
Orlando said he did not know when the playgrounds would reopen.
“While Bluffton, the region and the state continue to slowly reopen, the virus is still present and is able to spread in our community through close-contact with other people,” Orlando said in the release. “The town is doing its best to provide access to parks and open spaces while also providing for personal and public safety.”
The following parks are open:
▪ DuBois Park
▪ Oscar Frazier Park
▪ Dog park at Oscar Frazier Park
▪ Martin Family Park
▪ New River Linear Trail
▪ All pocket parks, including Pritchard Pocket Park and Tom Herbkersman Commons
Town staff plan to install signs reminding people to stand six feet away from non-family members and have a cleaning schedule for all public restrooms, according to the release.
