Coronavirus: Where to find the latest on Beaufort Memorial Hospital’s preparations

Beaufort Memorial Hospital has launched a coronavirus webpage where it plans to provide up-to-date information such as hospital restrictions and screening measures.

South Carolina had no cases of the novel COVID-19 diseases confirmed as of Friday morning.

COVID-19 is a specific disease from the coronavirus family, which also causes the common cold and more severe illnesses such as SARS and MERS.

As of Thursday, visitors of hospital patients are restricted to adults 18 and older who have no signs of illness. This is normal procedure during the peak of flu season.

Visitors are also being screened by staff for symptoms such as cough and sore throat.

The hospital’s plan will change as needed, the website says.

For the most current measures used by the hospital, visit the webpage.

Anyone with questions for the hospital may email healthupdates@bmhsc.org.
