Here's what you can and cannot recycle in Beaufort County
Throughout Beaufort county, there are about half a dozen hauling companies that pick up residential trash and recycling and 11 convenience centers where individuals can drop off and sort their waste and recycling.
Each entity has its own list of items it will accept for recycling.
For instance, Waste Management no longer accepts glass and the county's convenience centers only take plastic items with a No. 1 or 2 on it.
Here's a full list of what various companies across the county accept as recyclables.
Beaufort County Convenience centers
Beaufort county's convenience centers (except for the Big Estate, Sheldon, Lobeco, Cuffy centers) collect the following residential recycling items.
Accepts: No. 1 and 2 plastics, glass, cardboard, mixed paper, magazines, aluminum and steel cans
Does not accept: No. 3-7 plastics, plastic bags, Styrofoam, food waste
