If you wanted to go to Fort Pulaski, you’ll have to put your plans on hold. Here’s why

Fort Pulaski is closed until further notice.

The historic fort and national park will be closed until the government shutdown that went into effect Saturday morning at midnight is resolved, a press release issued by the National Park Service on Saturday said.

Cockspur Island will also be closed according to the release.

People will still be able to access McQueen’s Island, including the Lazaretto Creek Boat Ramp and McQueen’s Island Trail, the release said, but park offices will remain closed until the shutdown has ended.
