New golf academy open at Palmetto Hall

A new golf academy has launched at Palmetto Hall Plantation.

Brown Golf Academy opened at the end of May and offers a variety of adult lessons, classes and small group clinics; and plans to launch a junior golf academy later this month when more children are on summer break.

Rod Thompson, director of instructions and the academy’s founder, said Palmetto Hall was selected because of the two Brown Golf-managed courses already there. The academy itself doesn’t have a building because there is not enough room for one, he said. But information about services and appointments can be found online.

Brown Golf, which has a corporate office in Bluffton, has a total of eight courses on the island.
