‘My heart is broken’: Readers remember Daufuskie’s Dave Hutton

Dave Hutton was a big man with a big heart.

And while he was only 27 when he died during a hunting trip to Montana earlier this month, he packed a lot into those 27 years.

Hutton was one of the ‘Daufuskie 100,’ a group that gained national fame for deciding to stay behind on Daufuskie Island as Hurricane Matthew beat down the door of the Lowcountry in October.
