Hilton Head Hospital has received the Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care designation given by BlueCross® BlueShield® of South Carolina.

The hospital is one of the first hospitals in the state to receive the new designation — part of the insurance company’s Blue Distinction Specialty Care program, according to a news release.

The new program evaluates hospitals on several quality of care measures and those who agreed to meet requirements that align with principles that support evidence-based practices of care.
