Head of Hilton Head Island free medical clinic honored at national event

The head of a Hilton Head free medical clinic was recently honored at a national meeting of obstetricians and gynecologists.

Dr. Raymond Cox, executive director for Volunteers in Medicine Hilton Head Island, was recently honored at the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists' District meeting by the David A. Nagey Foundation for Perinatal Outreach, Education and Research.

A board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, Cox has spent most of his career caring for underserved populations, with an emphasis on maternal and child health.

Volunteers in Medicine was established on Hilton Head Island in 1993 and provides free medical, dental, mental health, vision and prescription drug care for those residents of the community who live and or work on Hilton Head or Daufuskie Island.
