Eye specialist to offer free macular degeneration seminar

Dr. Peter Liggett, of Hilton Head Macula & Retina, will conduct the seminar at 2 p.m. Oct. 13, at Indigo Pines, 110 Gardner Dr., on Hilton Head Island, according to a news release.

Macular degeneration is caused by the deterioration of the central portion of the retina -- the inside back layer of the eye that records images and sends them from the eye to the brain.

The seminar will last about 45 minutes with a 15-minute question and answer session afterward.

Pre-registration is required by Oct. 9.
