Area hospitals to offer free health screenings, CPR course

Two area hospitals are offering several free health screenings and a CPR course, officials say.

Hilton Head Hospital is offering balance screenings and fall risk assessments to those over the age of 55 or anyone who may be experiencing the sensation of falling, according to a statement released by the hospital.

The screenings will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Bluffton Medical Campus, 75 Baylor Drive, Suite 205-A. Appointments are required. To schedule, call 877-582-2737.

In addition, both Hilton Head Hospital and Coastal Carolina Hospital will offer free heart health screenings in October.

The screenings will provide information on cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure levels.

Finally, those interested in learning basic CPR can enroll in a free course offered by Hilton Head Hospital and local first responders.

The course will cover adult and child CPR, automated external defibrillator demonstrations, and how to make emergency calls or contact first responders.
