The Memorial Health University Physicians Primary Care facility in Bluffton’s Legacy Center off Highway 170 will close permanently by the end of the month.

A primary care facility in Bluffton will close its doors by the end of the year, according to a letter sent to patients.

Memorial Health University Physicians Primary Care, located in the Legacy Center medical plaza adjacent to Sun City and near the intersection of Okatie Highway and U.S. 278, stopped taking in-person visits last week, with permanent closure starting Dec. 31. The 15,000-square foot facility first opened in 2010.

Memorial Health University Physicians has a network of doctors, including specialists and primary care physicians. The Bluffton location was the only South Carolina-based location in the network. The vast majority are located in Savannah.

Concerned patients posted a letter from the healthcare provider on social media with questions about the closure and how to stay connected with the clinic’s two providers. The letter told the patients that despite the permanent closure, providers in their other primary care locations in Georgia are accepting new patients.

Despite numerous attempts to confirm with the healthcare provider that the facility was closing, a Memorial Health spokesperson would not confirm its closure with the newspaper.

Instead, the spokesperson sent a prepared statement: “We’ve worked with Dr. Kyle so he can stay in the community after this location closes at the end of the month. Information will be sent to patients so they can continue their care.”
