One new coronavirus case in Beaufort County, as SC sees lowest new case bump in April
Cases of coronavirus in Beaufort County inched up with a single new positive, as the state as a whole added 64 new cases, according to new data from the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.
That’s relatively low, as S.C. officials have reported more than 100 new cases of the virus every day of April until today. It brings the statewide total to 4,439.
Beaufort County’s total number of cases remains at 225, as reported Sunday. DHEC frequently shifts around data to reflect where an infected person comes from. One case was moved to a different county, and one new person tested positive in Beaufort County, as of Monday, the data shows.
DHEC says Beaufort County has had six coronavirus-related deaths. The number has shifted from eight on Sunday as the agency linked two of the victims with the county they came from. However, the deaths of at least eight people with Beaufort County addresses have been linked to COVID-19, according to the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office.
Statewide, four additional deaths were recorded Monday, bringing the state to 124 deaths from coronavirus.
Jasper County recorded its first COVID-19 death Sunday, and a total of 15 who have tested positive for the virus. Those numbers remain the same.
Of the zip codes in Beaufort and Jasper counties, Bluffton’s 29910 shows the highest number of possible cases of coronavirus at 286, according to DHEC.
