3 new cases of coronavirus reported Thursday in Beaufort County. 206 cases total.

Three more people tested positive for coronavirus in Beaufort County, bringing the total number of cases Thursday to 206, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control said in a release.

No new deaths were reported.

The county has as many as 1,265 cases that are undiagnosed, according to state estimates. Added to the number of confirmed cases, Beaufort County has up to 1,471 possible cases, the release says.

S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster said during a press conference Thursday that progress is being made to combat the virus.

“We cannot let up but the end is in sight,” McMaster said.

Across South Carolina, 276 additional people have tested positive for coronavirus for a total of 3,931 statewide.

Beaufort had the most cases in Beaufort County with 70 as of Thursday.

Bluffton followed with 38 and Parris Island with 23.

  • 17 positive and 121 possible east of Beaufort (29907)
  • 10 positive and 71 possible in Okatie (29909)
  • 38 positive and 271 possible in Bluffton (29910)
  • One positive and seven possible on Daufuskie Island (29915)
  • Eight positive and 57 possible on St. Helena Island (29920)
  • 16 positive and 114 possible on Hilton Head Island (29926)
  • Seven positive and 50 possible on Hilton Head Island (29928)
  • Six positive and 43 possible in Port Royal (29935)
  • Seven positive and 50 possible in Ridgeland (29936)

Parris Island cases are being recorded under the 29906 ZIP code, DHEC officials previously said.

Positive cases are those in which a patient has been tested and been diagnosed with coronavirus. Possible cases include positive and estimated coronavirus cases that have not been diagnosed. Because of a lack of access to testing, state health officials have said that for every one confirmed case, there could be up to nine people who are infected but have not been tested.

Coronavirus-related deaths

Beaufort County had no new deaths Thursday. Since the pandemic began, the county has had eight coronavirus-related deaths. All were elderly patients, according to DHEC and Beaufort County Coroner information. They are:

  • An 81-year-old Beaufort man who died March 30.
  • A 72-year-old Beaufort man who died March 31.
  • An 86-year-old Hilton Head Island man who died April 3.
  • An 89-year-old Hilton Head woman who died April 4.
  • A 83-year-old Lady’s Island woman who died April 7.
  • A 75-year-old Bluffton man who died April 9.
  • A 75-year-old Hilton Head man who died April 12.
  • A 93-year-old Bluffton man who died April 13.

The April 13 death has yet to be reported by DHEC. It was confirmed Monday by the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office.

There were 2 new deaths reported by DHEC statewide Thursday.

Both of the victims were elderly with no known underlying health conditions.

Overall South Carolina has seen 109 deaths.
