Beaufort County closes all government buildings due to coronavirus concerns
Starting Monday, all Beaufort County government buildings are closed to the public “to protect the health of citizens, visitors, and employees, and minimize opportunities to spread COVID-19 in our community,” the county announced on Sunday.
Residents can contact specific offices online, over the phone or through the mail. For a list of departments, visit the county’s website and select “Government.”
Last week, the county closed some government offices through March 31 as part of its emergency operations plan. It’s now unclear when the buildings will be open again.
You can drop off and pick up business license and permit applications in bins outside the County Administration Building at 100 Ribaut Road. Do not place cash or checks in the bins. The county will invoice for any fees.
All Convenience Centers will remain open and on their regular schedule.
Tax returns and payments that were due between April 1 and June 1 are now due on June 1. This includes payments for state income taxes, corporate income taxes, sales and use tax, admission tax and all other taxes filed and paid with the S.C. Department of Revenue.
The Hilton Head Island Airport and Lady’s Island Aiport are still operating. Travelers should contact their airline carrier for questions about flight schedules and possible changes.
