SC Realtors releases January market data

South Carolina Realtors recently released its January real-estate market data report.

In year-to-year comparison, new listings statewide were down slightly, to 8,735, and pending sales decreased by 8 percent, to 4,850. Inventory shrank 7 percent, to 34,411 units. Prices moved higher as median sales price was up almost 10 percent, to $170,000. The amount of days that homes stayed on market also decreased by 10 percent, to 107 days. And inventory shrank, with almost 18 percent fewer homes to choose from compared to this time last year.

The Beaufort area saw no change in number of residential homes, condos and villas sold, but the Hilton Head Island area had an increase of 23.3 percent.

The median price in Beaufort increased 10.3 percent, to $160,000. On Hilton Head, it increased 27.4 percent, to $300,650.
