Montage Palmetto Bluff, a high-end Bluffton hotel, is on track to becoming one of the Town of Bluffton’s largest employers this fall with the opening of a $100 million expansion.

The new hotel within the Palmetto Bluff residential community will grow the resort from 50 cottages and 30 homes to include 200 additional rooms, a 13,000 sq. foot spa and salon, a chapel and three new restaurants.

The resort plans to nearly double its staff from about 350 to 600 employees this year to accommodate the expansion, said director of resort human resources Courtney Williamson.

So far the resort has hired 200 workers for the expansion, but will fill 125 more open positions before the opening September 1, Williamson said.

To help attract out of town workers, beginning July 1 the resort contracted with Palmetto Breeze Transportation for a bus route to the hotel accessible to residents in Allendale, Colleton, Hampton, Jasper and Beaufort counties.

Applicants for the positions can attend a job fair at the resort July 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the The River House at 476 Mt. Pelia Rd.

Applications should be submitted online before the job fair at montagehotels.com/careers. At the event resort staff will interview potential hires for open positions in several departments: engineering, front office, golf, housekeeping, recreation, retail, spa and security.
