New wellness center offers boxing classes for Parkinson’s patients

Second Wind Therapy and Wellness Centers has opened in Port Royal and is offering Rock Steady Boxing, an exercise program based on training used by boxing pros and adapted to people with Parkinson’s disease.

The program, open to men and women of all ages and levels of ability, involves regular exercises such as stretching, bicycling, running, jump-roping, push-ups, balancing and lots of non-contact boxing.

Second Wind Therapy and Wellness Centers, which specializes in movement disorders, toxicity and weight issues, and stress and anxiety, is at 864 Parris Island Gateway and will host a ribbon-cutting May 19.
