Premo received leadership award from Toastmasters International
David Premo of Hilton Head Island received a leadership excellence award from Toastmasters International for his 10-month study on the value of communication and leadership skills to professional growth.
Premo, a retired publishing executive and associate professor of communication at Kaplan University, became interested in measuring the tangible value of communication and people skills. As principal investigator, he selected two collaborators from his faculty colleagues along with one human resource professional who served as a subject matter expert.
The results indicated the value of communication and leadership skills in securing a position and negotiating salary. Premo then correlated these results with the communication and leadership activities of Toastmasters International.
Premo holds two offices in FastTrackers Toastmasters of Hilton Head: vice president of education and vice president of public relations. The club meets at 7:45 every Friday morning in the Palmetto Electric building on Mathews Drive. Guests are invited.
