Beaufort Tours adds Reconstruction tour

Recent increased interest in the Reconstruction era has prompted a Beaufort business owner to add a new tour.

Beaufort Tours — which offers tours of the city’s historic sites, movie locations and plantations — recently launched a Reconstruction tour of Beaufort, according to owner Bill Reynolds.

The tour includes the original home of the Port Royal Experiment; The Oaks, a plantation house on St. Helena Island; and the Penn Center, also on St. Helena, in addition to Beaufort history and landmarks.

The Reconstruction tour is offered at 10 a.m. every day, and departs from the Downtown Beaufort Marina, at 1006 Bay St. Tours must be booked a day in advance at www.beauforttoursllc.com/ or by calling 843-838-2746.
