Hargray expands fiber service installation

Hargray recently announced an agreement to provide fiber services to Daufuskie Island's Haig Point and the residential sections of Sea Pines Plantation as part of the Lowcountry Broadband Plan announced in June.

As part of the multi-year agreement, Haig Point residents have agreed to fund 50 percent of the costs associated with installing the fiber and subscribe to Hargray's Internet service for a minimum of five years. Construction is expected to begin this month and be completed in the spring of 2016.

Since December, Hargray has been updating mainline fiber infrastructure within Sea Pines in order to further extend fiber-based services to commercial and high-density areas, such as villas and condominiums.
