Hilton Head Hospital nurse receives hospital's award for 'extraordinary nurses'
A nurse with Hilton Head Hospital has received an award given to "extraordinary nurses."
Laura Winholt, RN, has received the Diseases Attacking the Immune System, or DAISY, award, according to a news release.
A nurse in the hospital's Surgical Services Department, Winholt received the distinction for providing "exemplary job performance in any situation," the release stated.
Most recently, Winholt alerted surgical and other medical staff to a patient whose condition was deteriorating rapidly, likely saving the patient's life.
The award was established by The DAISY Foundation, based in Glen Ellen, Calif. which recognizes nurse achievements.
