Hilton Head Island picked as top retirement destination by magazine

Hilton Head Island has been selected as a top retirement destination by a magazine specializing in helping people with retirement relocation decisions, according to a news release.

Hilton Head will be featured in "Where to Retire"'s January-February issue, available on newstands Dec. 15.

The island was picked for its development as a top coastal resort town, an active Osher Lifelong Learning Institute chapter with a bevy of programs, and a majority of the town's residents living in gated communities with lots of activities, the release said.

"Where to Retire" is published six times a year.
