Two of the three radio stations downed by computer upgrade back on air

Two of the three radio stations that were off the air for more than 24 hours Tuesday and Wednesday are back on the air, according to the stations' general manager Mike Buxser.

WVSC-FM SC 103 and WLHH-FM 104.9 "The Surf" were back transmitting early Wednesday morning. A third station, WVSC-HD 2 "Easy" 106.5, remained off the air Wednesday during its popular drive times.

All three of the stations, owned by Hilton Head Island-based Apex Broadcasting, went down shortly after midnight Tuesday and were off the air throughout the day because of an Internet upgrade, Buxser said on Tuesday.

A backup system was put into place and technicians were continuing to work on the stations' primary network as of Wednesday morning, Buxser said.

He expected 106.5 to be back on the air later Wednesday.
