Hilton Head specialist to offer seminar on macular degeneration

A Hilton Head Island retina specialist will hold an educational seminar on macular degeneration this month.

Dr. Peter Liggett will hold the seminar from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at Hampton Inn & Suites Bluffton-Sun City, 29 William Pope Drive, Bluffton, according to a news release.

Macular degeneration is caused by the deterioration of the central portion of the retina. As people age, their chances for developing eye diseases increase dramatically.
