Tax assistance coalition to offer tax assistance

Volunteers with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program will offer free tax return preparation to those whose yearly earnings are $54,000 or less.

Volunteers will also assist the disabled, the elderly and those with limited English-speaking abilities with their tax returns.

The VITA coalition will offer the services beginning on or about Feb. 1, 2016 in Allendale, Bamberg, Colleton, Hampton, Jasper and Beaufort counties.

Specific sites and times will be announced at a later date.

Volunteers are also needed.
