Blufftonians, more burgers and brews are coming to town.

Fat Patties and Salt Marsh Brewing, housed in a combined building at 207 Bluffton Road, are on schedule to open at the end of October, according to owner Nick Borreggine.

"It's very doable at this point," he said. "We're working day and night here."

Borreggine said it's been a long road to get the burger restaurant off the ground in Bluffton.

"We lost four locations and had a few bidding wars," he said.

Ultimately, though, Borreggine said he's happy with the location, especially because of the building's size. The restaurant occupies 4,300 square feet on the first floor. Salt Marsh Brewing is on the second floor, in addition to having an outdoor beer garden off the ground floor.

This will be Borreggine's second Fat Patties location -- the original restaurant is at 831 Parris Island Gateway in Beaufort. The menu at the Bluffton restaurant will be the same, he said, with the addition of Salt Marsh brews available to order.

Speaking of, Borreggine said Salt Marsh is ready to start test brewing this week.

"We passed inspection this morning," he said Thursday.

The brewery will start with a selection of five beers, including a "State of Mind" saison, a pumpkin porter spiced with chili, a couple of pale ales and a honey hefeweizen. Eventually, Borreggine said, Salt Marsh brewer James Brown would like to offer 10 beers. The Salt Marsh brews will also be sold at the Beaufort Fat Patties.
