Hilton Head Popeyes to finally open Tuesday
Hilton Head Island's first Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen will open Tuesday morning, according to the restaurant's owner.
The fried-chicken chain will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at 15 Park Lane with Mayor David Bennett, town manager Steve Riley and Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce leaders, said Gale Brown, an island resident and the restaurant's owner.
The restaurant will be the first Beaufort County location for Popeyes.
It's also the first new building on the island to fall under Hilton Head's new rule requiring new developments include an electric car charging station.
"The electric car charging was really simple to be honest, not even an issue," Brown said. "I think it's going to be a positive thing, especially being green."
The Georgia-based fast-food company was the seventh-fastest growing chain in 2013, according to Forbes Magazine. It has more than 2,000 locations worldwide, according to its website.
