Build-A-Bear Workshop Outlet set to open Wednesday

Shopping at Tanger Outlets is about to get more fun for kids.

Build-A-Bear Workshop Outlet, at 1414 Fording Island Road, Unit A-133, will have its ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Sept. 2. The store is between L'eggs Hanes Bali Playtex and Gymboree Outlet in Hilton Head Tanger Outlets Center 2.

The store will host a preview event for Tanger Club members from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

Guests from The Children's Center, a nonprofit early-learning program on Hilton Head Island, will be at the grand opening next week, said company spokeswoman Beth Kerley. She said the kids will make their own bears before participating in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Build-A-Bear Workshop, with more than 400 locations worldwide, allows customers to build and customize stuffed animals, including bears, bunnies, dogs and characters from TV shows and, movies. The Bluffton location will not include the full Build-A-Bear Workshop line, but as it is an outlet store, it offers up to 30 percent savings from standard stores.
