Roastfish & Cornbread chef opening new restaurant in Bluffton
For those of you who miss Chef David's Lowcountry cooking, you won't have to wait much longer for its return.
Burnin' Down South, at 198 Okatie Village Drive, Suite 108, in Bluffton, is expected to open by Mother's Day weekend, chef and owner David Young said.
The name is different, but the concept is the same, he said.
"I'm still me," Young said. "It's still authentic Lowcountry cooking."
Roastfish & Cornbread emphasized fish on its menu, he said, which will be one departure in the new restaurant. With the addition of equipment that he didn't have at his former restaurant, Young is planning to do more with grilled vegetables and steak entrees.
He said he's excited about the new location, too, which is right outside of Sun City Hilton Head.
"I wanted to be somewhere with more people and more exposure," he said.
The primary reason for closing Roastfish & Cornbread, which was at 70 Marshland Road on Hilton Head Island, was its location: Young said it had become a "destination spot," which meant only people who knew about the restaurant were going to it.
