Bluffton artist Pierce Giltner has closed his outdoor gallery next to The Store in Old Town.

Giltner packed up the gallery on Calhoun Street about a month and half ago after deciding to pursue a job in construction full time, he said.

"I had a job opportunity I could not give up. That's what pays the bills," he said.

Known for his folk art with canvases made of wood and tin salvaged from abandoned houses, Giltner has showcased his artwork at the gallery for the last six years, according to The Store owner Babbie Guscio, who owns the property the gallery was on.

He still plans to pursue art on side, and will have a weekend pop-up gallery in front of Cahill's Market in Bluffton within the next month or two, he said.
