Hilton Head, Coastal Carolina hospitals select new CEO
Hilton Head Regional Healthcare, which includes Hilton Head and Coastal Carolina hospitals, has named Jeremy Clark as chief executive.
Clark succeeds Mark O'Neil, who retired in November. O'Neil oversaw the opening of a medical campus in Bluffton and several specialty centers at Hilton Head Hospital during his five-year tenure. Hilton Head Regional also operates the Bluffton-Okatie Outpatient Center.
Clark said he hopes to pick up where O'Neil left off.
"I look forward to being a part of the growth of our facilities and helping to sustain a high level of quality care for patients and their families," he said in a statement.
The new executive was CEO of Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett, a 196-bed hospital near Memphis, Tenn. He helped the hospital grow and develop new services, including programs in ST-elevation myocardial infarction and robotic surgery, a news release said.
Before that, he was vice president and chief of staff for Tenet CEO Trevor Fetter at Tenet's corporate headquarters in Dallas. Tenet is Hilton Head Regional Healthcare's parent company.
He also served as chief operating officer at Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Fla., and as associate administrator at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala.
Clark was named to Becker's Hospital Review 2014 list of "Rising Stars: 25 Healthcare Leaders Under 40." The list recognizes those who have demonstrated excellence in their health care organizations and professional lives, the release said.
He received his master's degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree in biology and history from Duke University.
"Jeremy is a great fit for Hilton Head Regional Healthcare," said Donald Creamer, chairman of Hilton Head Hospital's governing board. "He is a proven leader with community commitment, and he is dedicated to ensuring patients receive the highest quality care and service at our hospitals."
Clark started Monday, according to the release.
